The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) provides a health care service to Nyoongar People in Nyoongar ways so that our aspiration for "Our Health - Our Way" is achieved and our health problems are properly overcome, now and in the future.
Purpose and Philosophy
The South West Aboriginal Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation (SWAMSAC) is a Nyoongar Community Controlled Health Organisation, founded on the principles of self determination, empowerment and freedom of choice.
SWAMSAC recognises the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health (International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Rights).
To achieve the highest attainable standard of health for and with Nyoongar People, SWAMSAC will pursue the delivery of best-practice and culturally appropriate holistic health services to the Indigenous population of the South West region of Western Australia. |
